House DNA ('we', 'our', or 'us') operates the House DNA web application at housedna.in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details — your full name and email address when you register.
- Property information — property name, address, construction stage, materials, contractor details, and notes you enter.
- Documents and photos — files you upload to the Document Vault and Room photo sections.
- Payment information — processed by Razorpay. We do not store your card or bank details.
Information collected automatically
- Session data — authentication tokens stored in secure HTTP-only cookies.
- Usage data — pages visited, actions taken within the app (not sold or shared).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the House DNA service.
- To send transactional emails — account verification, password reset, reminder notifications, and subscription expiry warnings.
- To process payments via Razorpay.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on the following infrastructure:
- Database — Neon PostgreSQL hosted in Singapore (ap-southeast-1). Encrypted at rest.
- Files and documents — Cloudflare R2 object storage with private access only. Files are served via signed URLs that expire after a short period.
- Email delivery — Resend, used only for transactional emails.
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, bcrypt password hashing, and JWT-based session management. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data and property records for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data and all associated property records within 30 days. Files stored in Cloudflare R2 are also deleted upon account deletion.
5. Your Rights
- Access — you may request a copy of all data we hold about you.
- Correction — you can update your profile details from the Settings page.
- Deletion — you may request full account and data deletion by emailing us.
- Export — you can export all your property data as a ZIP file from Settings at any time.
6. Cookies
House DNA uses cookies only for session management (to keep you logged in). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Children's Privacy
House DNA is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
